Several weeks ago the Engine light came on my 2008 Tahoe, it started running rough and would come close to stalling at red lights and stop signs.I drove it up to advanced auto parts and they put it on the code reader and told me it had a random misfire. The truck was in need of a tuneup so I bought spark plugs and wires went home and replaced them but that did not solve the problem.I called Kelly's hoping to have him take a look at it but they were exstreamly busy and not able to look at it until Monday or Tursdsy.Being the inpatient person that I am and neebing to be in Atlanta on Monday, I took my truck to Loves Chevrolet and they put it on thier machine and told me that there was no compression on cylinders four and six and I needed a new engine. $6,000 was the quote. My neighbor recommended that I go to Wiesman's auto so I ran my truck by there they put it on the machine and told me that I needed a new engine and the cost was going to be $5,300 for a new engine $4,700 for a used engine or they could fix my engine but that would be 2,700.They recommended that I not fix my engine because I have over 100,000 miles on it.I grew up working on cars and boats in the 80s and 90s but I don't consider myself to be a good mechanic but I thought Love Chevrolet and Wiesman's were crazy for trying to sell me an engine for a truck that was running rough and had a misfire.Called Kelly on Monday and explained everything to him and he told me that he didn't think I needed new engine and I agreed.Took my truck to him on Monday he was able to pull the valve covers by Wednesday and found out that one of my springs had snapped and the rod was slightly bent.He put a new spring in, a new pushrod, oil change and a new AC belt. Total was $447.00.The truck is running better than it ever has.Kelly's auto is worth waiting for... Drop your vehicle off and wait if they're busy.I will not take my vehicles anywhere else again.
